Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of QuestPilot (the "Platform"), run by the QuestPilot team ("we," "us," or "our"). Student organizations and similar groups ("Organizations") use the Platform to run their own competitions, each on its own site. The Platform is not an official service of The University of Texas at Austin or of any school. By using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. By using it, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older.

2. Your Account and Organizations

• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials confidential.
• You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
• Accounts are for your personal use as a participant, coordinator, or organizer.
• One account can belong to several Organizations. Your role in each Organization is set by that Organization's organizers and applies only on its site.

3. Acceptable Use

When using the Platform, you agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent quest submissions or evidence.
• Submit work or evidence that is not yours or that you do not have permission to share.
• Attempt to manipulate scores or interfere with any competition or its scoring.
• Harass other participants or post unlawful, offensive, or infringing content.
• Upload files showing other people, or containing their personal information, without their permission.
• Upload files containing malware or anything designed to harm the Platform or its users.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform, other accounts, another Organization's data, or the Platform's systems.

4. Submissions and Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content (including notes, evidence links, and uploaded files), you grant us and the Organization you submit it to permission to store, display, and use it to run that Organization's competition, including showing your name and points on its scoreboard and standings. Uploaded files are shown only to you, the coordinators of your season, that Organization's administrators, and the QuestPilot team, and may be deleted by organizers at any time.

5. Organizations, Scoring, and Moderation

Each Organization runs its own competition. Its coordinators, administrators, and organizers may review submissions and approve, reject, or adjust points, and may make manual score corrections. Scoring and moderation decisions are made by that Organization and are considered final for the purposes of its competition. We may also act to protect the Platform, its users, or a competition's integrity.

6. Responsibilities of Organizers

If you are a coordinator or administrator of an Organization, you can see information about its members, such as their names, email addresses, submissions, and evidence files. You agree to use it only to run that Organization's competition, not to copy or share it outside the Organization's organizers, and not to use it for any other purpose.

7. Suspension and Termination

We, or an Organization for its own site, may suspend, remove, or terminate your access at any time, including for violations of these Terms or to protect the integrity of a competition. You may stop using the Platform at any time and may request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may also stop providing the Platform to an Organization.

8. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that scores will be free of errors.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we, and the Organizations using the Platform and their officers, members, and volunteers, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Participation in an Organization's competition is voluntary.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be subject to the courts located in Texas.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the version and ask you to review and accept the updated terms the next time you sign in.
